“Angakusajaujuq: The Shaman’s Apprentice” won ‘Best Canadian Short Film’ at Toronto International Film Festival! Myself, along with Jace Lasek, and Michael Felber, and Sylvia Cloutier composed the soundtrack.  I’m very happy to have worked on this film and excited for everyone to see it.

June 2021 
On Friday June 11 join me for the world premiere of a mini-documentary series I am a part of. Giiwewizh (meaning ‘to carry home’, in Ojibway Anishinaabe), directed by Sara Fox and Land Back Studios was all shot on iPhone 12.

The Beatrice Deer Band participated in the Quebec-wide talent show called "Talents Bleus" in the show "La Semaine des 4 Julie" on Noovo tv and was voted pass the first round of the competition! There will be a total of 16 professional performing artists in this talent show representing each Quebec region. The final prize will be $100,000. Next round perfomance will be in November. We are proud to announce that our most recent album, "My All to You", won 'Best Folk Album' at the 2019 Indigenous Music Awards, as well as 2018 Canadian Folk Music Award winner for 'Pushing the Boundaries' category.

We're always happy to provide musical entertainment for any type of event, such as weddings, special events, etc. With our extensive list of a wide variety of popular hits from the 70's to the present day, along with our large repertoire of original English and Inuktitut songs, you can be sure that you will have an amazing band for your party!

Unplugged

Woodland Cultural Centre , Virtual Concert

Unplugged is a socially distanced concert as part of the Tehonkieron:nions (They are Entertaining) performing art series. This acoustic concert is highlighting the female voices of singer/songwriters: Lacey Hill (Six Nations), Biine Elijah (Oneida), Ila Barker (Manitoba) and Beatrice Deer (Quebec). Due to travel restrictions the performances of Beatrice Deer and Ila Barker will be screened instead of in-person performances. The evening will be hosted by Santee Smith, founding and Managing Artistic Director of Kaha:wi Dance Theatre; Chancellor of McMaster University in Hamiliton; Artist and Guest Speaker. Santee Smith is an internationally recognized leader in the performing arts, a multidisciplinary artist, choreographer and producer from the Kahnyen’kehàka (Mohawk) Nation, Turtle Clan from Six Nations of the Grand River, Ontario. Performances will take place on the front steps of the former Mohawk Institute Residential School and symbolize the resilience of Indigenous culture, creativity and expression. Bring your blanket or lawn chair and enjoy the evening from socially distanced spaces as marked. Advance tickets will be on sale at WoodlandCulturalCentre.ca for $15 each or $25 family ticket and also available at the door the day of the event. Woodland Cultural Centre is excited to be opening back up to the public, however limited tickets will be available to stay within COVID protocols. This festive forum is part of the services and programs that the Center for Immigration in the Region offers to the population of the MRC d'Argenteuil to promote the attraction, settlement and integration of individuals and families immigrant women throughout our territory. This day of festivity allows visitors to discover the cultures of the world through food, dance, music, history and art. Each year, there are more than sixty exhibitors in the impressive merchant lane and nearly fifteen shows are scheduled. In addition to the various activities, a multitude of activities for the whole family are available to you. In short, there's something for everyone.

Ishkueu - Voix de Femmes

Maison de la culture Ahuntsic, 10300, rue Lajeunesse, 1er étage, Montreal

Sur le thème des femmes autochtones disparues, le concert Ishkueu (signifie femmes en innu) nous plonge dans l’univers musical de quatre femmes (Ishkueu) issues de différentes Nations qui chantent dans leurs langues respectives. Avec Kathia Rock, (Innue) tambour et direction artistique, Laura Niquay, (Atikamekw), guitare, Andrée Lévesque (Wendate) et Beatrice Deer (Inuk). Sous la direction musicale de Louise Poirier, les artistes se racontent sur des rythmes folk, pop et rock.

Every day during summer, from Monday to Friday at lunchtime, the SDC Old-Montreal is collaborating with the Ville-Marie borough to offer you at the heart of Places d’Armes, a special area dedicated to emerging artists with free summer concerts taking place outside: The Places d’Armes Music Zone. Featuring a variety of music from folk-rock, Hindi-rock to R&B and pop music, the Music Zone’s program is very diverse and will highlight the new talents of Montreal's music scene.
